Purified Terephthalic Acid
Terephthalic acid (PTA) is one of the monomers used for the synthesis of the polyester, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), that is used for the large-scale manufacture of synthetic fibers and plastic bottles. PTA is largely produced from the liquid-phase oxidation of petroleum-derived p-xylene (PX).
Caprolactum
Caprolactam is used in the manufacture of synthetic fibers. Acute (short-term) exposure to caprolactam may result in irritation and burning of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin in humans.Because ε-caprolactam is the only common caprolactam isomer, the ε is usually dropped.
Dimethylterephthalate
Dimethyl terephthalate is used to make esters that can be utilized as plasticizers. These plasticizers are found in polyester resins, polyester polyols, dyes and pigments, anhydrides and insect repellents.
